Turf Monsters snatch a win from the Turtles

The Lids Snapping Turtles fall the to Chatham Turf Monsters in a pitching duel. With a final score of 1-0, the Turf Monsters rallied behind their pitcher’s experience and strategy. 

Turf Monster starting and winning pitcher Dustin Sprong set the standards early in the game. He had 4 IP, 4 K’s, 1 BB.  In the top of the third, he went 3 up – 3 down. That set the spark for the Turf Monsters leading into the bottom of the third. 

Owen Quinn scored the winning run with after a single, advancing on a wild pitch. He reaches home after first baseman, Peter Levin singled.  

 Sprong left the mound and the Snapping Turtles scoreless after the top of the fourth. 

Coming in behind the game-winning pitcher was Chris Gallagher. He secured the Turf Monsters shut out with 3 IP, 1H, 6 K’s, 1BB and 3 up -3 down in the top of the sixth. 

The Snapping Turtles were anything but submissive to the dominant pitching of the Turf Monsters. They left scoreless but that wasn’t without four stolen bases, 10 K’s, 7 BB and 3 hits.
