Four Different Pitchers Combine to Earn the Tropics Second Win of the Season
On Thursday night, the Trifectom Tropics earned their second win of the season with help from four different pitchers and clutch hitting.
Chase Mason (Carl Sandburg) started the game for the Tropics and went 2 innings, picking up 3 strikeouts, but one run was plated run on a dead ball overthrow. Mason was then replaced by Cody Jones (University of Indianapolis) who worked out of a jam to get three quick outs to end the threat by the Turf Monsters.
The Tropics bats came alive in the fourth and fifth innings with back-to-back hits with
Peyton Back (Bellarmine), Dalton Back (Miami Ohio), Ian Choi (Butler), and Austin Reed (University of Alabama Huntsville). They continued to score two more in the sixth, but the Turf Monsters came back with one run themselves.
Jack Bruington (Carl Sandburg) and Mitchell Hennebury (Lincoln Trail) pitched the final innings for the Tropics to round out a full staff effort in the win.
The Tropics will be back in action on Sunday at Championship Park in Kokomo to take on the Moon Shots.
