Moonshots stay hot as the offense comes alive with 13 hits to beat the Bag Bandits 8 to 4

The Moonshots get another win on Tuesday night off of 13 hits from the offense and solid outings from 5 pitchers. The Shots beat the Bag Bandits 8 to 4 in seven innings, they now have a record of 2 wins to no loses.

The Moonshots got on the board first in the top of the game, the batters were really making Ben Whiteside (Butler) work, each batter working good counts. Max Weller (Arizona Western) hustled out a triple to right on a 3-1 count, then Adam Brian (Bradley) was able to single to bring in the games first run. On the mound for the Moonshots was Brennyn Abendroth (Southeastern Illinois), he worked a clean inning in the bottom of the 1st. The Moonshots were able to load the bases from three singles, but were unable to capitalize, Whiteside was able to get out of the inning with a big strikeout and a fly ball out. Abendroth pitched a clean inning allowing a double, but picking up two more strikeouts. Jared Shelton (Southern Indiana) pitched a clean top of the 3rd by picking off a runner and striking out two. Abendroth came out for his last inning of work picking up two more strikeouts finishing with 3 IP, 5 SO. Sheldon hit the first batter in the top of 4th, then stuck out the next three. Cam Clark (Spaulding) came in to pitch the 4th, the Bag Bandits were able to take the lead after Jermey Rader (Johnson County CC) worked a walk and Ryan Birr (Kaskaskia CC) singled, Tucker Platt (IU Kokomo) drove them in with a single to left. Platt was able to get to third by stealing second base and then a throwing error on the third baseman. Kaid Muth (Lincoln Trail) singled to make the score 3 to 1.

The Moonshots were able to pick up another run in the top of the 5th with the bases loaded Brian worked a walk to drive in a run before Sheldon got out of the inning with a strikeout. Tanner Morren (Transfer Portal) pitched a clean bottom 5th. The Moonshots took the lead back in the top of the 6th with a walk by Spencer Bartel (Madison) and a single by Luke Smock (Wisconsin Milwaukee), Brayton Bowen (U of Indianapolis) drove in one run with a fly ball single to center. Smock and Bowen both advanced on a error by the centerfielder, Brennen Holloway (Transfer Portal) drove in another run with a fly ball to center. The big hit this inning came from Slade Netterville (Louisiana Tech) who hit a double down the third base line picking up two RBI. The Bag Bandits fought back in the bottom of 6th after a walk and a stolen base by Birr, Lira Sergio (Des Moines Area CC) brought him home with a single to left. The Shots put this game out of reach when Sebastian Parchomenko (Transfer Portal) walked and then stole second, Bartel drove him in with a single making the score 8 to 4. Grant Martin (Aquinas) shut the door in the bottom of the 7th.

The Moonshots offense keep rolling, they fought back after going down in the 4th inning, they also continue to show how deep their pitching is by using 5 different pitchers in this game. The Moonshots are back in action on Thursday June 9th at 6:30 vs the Bomb Squad on field D8.
