Bag Bandits take season opener over Bomb Squad 11-2
The Bag Bandits started off hot in the College Summer League season opener against the Bomb Squad. What was scheduled as a double header turned into a single 7 inning game due to weather.
Bomb Squad got on the board first with two runs in the first innings. Travis Reaves (Portal) with a big single to score one. The Bag Bandits answered back in the bottom of the first with six runs of their own. The Bag Bandits were patience at the plate in the first drawing five walks and one hit by pitch. Tucker Platt (IUK) had a double to score one. Dalton Wasson (Belmont) tossed a four-batter inning in the top of two. Bag Bandits picked up two more runs in the bottom of the second.
Cameron French (Southeastern Oklahoma State University) started off the third for the Bomb Squad with a single but was unable to be moved around the bases. Colton Shirley (Dupage) with a huge double in the bottom of the third and eventually went around the bases for the Bag Bandits sixth run of the day. The Bag Bandits picked up one more run in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 8 to 2.
Grant Trinkle (John A. Logan) started off the top of the fifth with a single and then stole second. Winston Hill (Moraine Valley) reached first on an error and Trinkle went home but was thrown out by the Bag Bandits.
The next three innings were quick work by Bomb Squad pitchers Dimitri Ivetic (Portal) and Caden Tarango (Dayton) one earned run. Jack Barham (Carl Sandburg) threw the last four innings only giving up three hits and zero earned runs.
