The Trops are the Comeback Kids,  Defeating the Bag Bandits 10-8

In a stunning comeback win, the Trifetom Tropics took down the Bag Bandits 10-8 on Thursday night.

For the Tropics, Keaton Mahan (Ohio State), Connor Ostrander (Western Michigan), Dalton Back (Miami Ohio), Peyton Back (Bellarmine), and Kenneth Sugi (Kaskaskia Community College), each had two hits.

The scoring began with each team plating a run in the first.

With a two run single from Ostrander, a double from Mahan, and a triple from D. Back, the Tropics cruised to a 4-1 lead in the third. Luke Shelton (Lincoln Trail) was mowing down batters from the Bandits as well.

In the fourth inning, the Bandits tied the game, and took an 8 to 4 lead into the fifth and sixth.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Trops came alive, scoring 6 runs to bring the score to 10-8. With Ostrander leading off the inning getting hit by a pitch, Camdin Jansen (Central Michigan) & Keaton Mahan were able to help his cause by loading the bases with a single and a walk. A sac fly from D. Back, a couple of walks, some wild pitches & some Trop magic, the Tropics took the lead back in the bottom of the seventh.

Chase Mason (Carl Sandburg), who replaced Charlie Hawk (Purdue Fort Wayne) in the top of the seventh, shut down the Bandits in their tracks.

With a strong start from
Shelton & shutdown pitches in the last few innings from Mason, the Trops pulled off the comeback win in style.

The Tropics will now face the Local Legends on Sunday night at Championship Park in Kokomo.
