Rangers shut-out Monsters in 7 inning, one-hitter

The Rangers down the Monsters in a 10-0 shutout and ended their two-game win streak.

First baseman Darryl Loyd III, catcher Erik Malott, designated hitter Camden Melvin, second baseman Dominic Decker, center fielder Ben Zink, and extra hitter Aidan Brown all walked away from the win batting .500 or higher.

A lot of patient and smart at-bats allowed the Rangers to take 16 total walks from the Turf Monsters pitching staff.

The big inning for the Rangers came in the top of the fourth when Brandon Micetich doubled to send Zink and Brown home.  Shortly after, Malott singled to bring in Micetich and Loyd sending the lead to 8-0.

Micetich, Brown, and Malott were the driving force on the hitting side of the 10-0 win with 2 RBI apiece. Malott led the Rangers with a HBP, 2 BB, 1 H, 1 R, and 2 RBI.

The Rangers pitching staff totaled 12 strikeouts and held the Monsters to one hit.

Sam Fulton: 3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 5 SO

Aidan Fitzsimmons: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 SO

Brant Brown: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 SO, 0 BB

Turf Monsters managed to load the bases in the bottom of the sixth inning however, Brant Brown entered the game and shut down their hopes of scoring with three quick pitches.

The Rangers now sit 3-3 in CSL standings and will take on the Moon Shots in Grand Park After Dark Round 2 Thursday, June 16th at 9:30 pm on GP D-06.
