Turf Monsters trip up Bomb Squad with late-game rally!

The Bomb Squad kept the Turf Monsters scoreless into the third inning, but the Turf Monsters scored 2 runs in the bottom of the third to decrease the margin. The Bomb squad maintained their 4-2 lead until Turf Monster first basemen, Peter Levin (Harvard), tied the game with a ground-rule double to make the score 4-4.

The Turf Monsters took a one run lead at the top of the fifth thanks to Brian Winters Jr. (John A Logan) sac fly that sent Ganin Thompson (Michigan State) home.

In the bottom of the 6th, Bomb Squad batter Travis Reaves took an HBP and that, followed by a Turf Monster 3rd baseman error, opened the doors for the Bomb Squad to not only tie the game, but also regain a one run lead. It left the Turf Monsters hungry to reclaim the momentum created in the 4th inning.

Turf Monster Cole Hill (Cisco College) subbed in for EH, Chase Hug (Evansville), and doubled to left field sending Thompson home to tie the game. A Parker Gryskevich (Wittenberg) SAC fly allowed for Hill to tag up to third, and an error from the Bomb Squad SS laid the foundation for Hill to run home. Allowing the Turf Monster to regain the lead once again.

In the bottom of the seventh, Turf Monster pitcher, Chris Gallagher (Wright State) held the Bomb Squad to no runs, to secure the first win of the season for the Turf Monsters.
Their record stands at 1-1 and the Bomb Squad record is now 0-2.

Turf Monster coach, Jaxon Shirley liked how the team played competitively offensively, but realizes that there is still work to do defensively. He gave compliments to Hill for the game changing double in the 6th and thanked Max McEwen (Indiana State) for his 1-2-3 outing in the bottom of the fourth.
