Rangers lead the league after a shutout 2-hitter.

The Park Rangers defeated the Snapping Turtles with an all-around effort including a huge day for right-handed pitcher Sam Fulton.  Fulton walked away from the win with 7 IP, 6 K, 1 BB, 2 H, 0 R. 

To get the Rangers on the board, first baseman Darryl Loyd III reaches after being hit by a pitch in the bottom of the second.  He was advanced to second by a single from right fielder Brandon Micetich and sent home after a single from third baseman Nick Sutherlin.

The significant lead came in the bottom of the third when shortstop Brett Pfaadt singled, second baseman Kyle Walker doubled, left fielder Gavin Baldwin walked, Loyd was hit-by-pitch, designated hitter Cade Vota walked, catcher Erik Malott walked, and Loyd scored after a ground out by Micetich.  The Rangers scored four runs in the inning which bumped the lead to 5-0.

The final two runs of the game for the Rangers arrived in the fashion of a pair of singles for Walker and Baldwin followed stolen bases to put the two in scoring position.  Walker scored on a sac fly by Loyd and Baldwin scored on a ground out by Vota to make the score 7-0.

Walker led the Rangers with a.667 batting average and went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double in the bottom of the third and a single in the bottom of the fifth.

In the top of the seventh, the Rangers held the Turtles scoreless through a double play and an out at the plate. The shutout was threatened after a double by the Turtles and when the runner advanced to 3rd on a double play by Walker to get the outs at second and first.  After a pass ball, the runner on third attempted to go home but was out at the plate thanks to the valiant efforts of Malott and Fulton. 

The Park Rangers take on the 2021 CSL Champions, the Bag Bandits, on Thursday, June 9 at 3:30 pm on Diamond 6 at Grand Park.
